It’s coming alive! I hit a speed bump, a big one actually…I decided to use green-stuff for the cobblestone fireplace/chimney and it’s taking forever to shape each stone, texture it, and attach. I’ll finish that so it looks equal but i’ll have to think of an alternative method for larger areas later. I wanted to add a first story to the inn, sort of a base made of stone as well. I might look into those plastic sheets with pre-stamped stones on them. Also, I wanted to add cobblestone pathways in the village.
Anyways, the inn is coming along ok, Ill add a bar inside for where the innkeeper would have been, perhaps with some shields hanging on the walls. A couple of half-haning doors in some of the rooms, some planks and ladders too, for sure. Oh, a sign for the Crooked Moon as well…no ideas yet for what this will look like. Thanks for looking.
It’s looking really nice. Have you thought about making a green stuff mold for making the stone?
Thanks Ian,
I’m using green stuff (blue/yellow) and molding them by hand to stone pieces, attaching them then to the chimney/fireplace. Then I press them with a tool to give texture. This was a horrible idea…taking way too long. For future walls and paths I will use plastic mold sheets. You can find them at hobby train shops online. They are dirt cheap. I will try it soon, I’ll cut and glue to walls then paint and ink. Hopefully it won’t look chincy!
LOL I was actually going to say “texture stamp” but even that sounds like a lot of work.
Textured plastic sheets do have the downside that the cut edges look pretty lousy and kill the illusion. Bending them around corners might help, as would finishing the edges with greenstuff to disguise the cuts.
Otherwise, it looks pretty good, though there’s not really much inn left to see. It looks like one good kick would send the remains folding over!
Great suggestions NSA, to address the patterns not lining up, perhaps folding for the corners like you suggested and if I have a joining problem on the middle of the wall I can tear a wall section out, destroyed from wyrdstone shrapnel?! Thanks!
